A 22 minute morality play on your TV each week from 1959-1964. You thought you were watching pure science fiction but Rod Serling's voice-over in the end made sure you didn't miss the current day cultural message. Usually some lesson about the consequences of selfishness, greed, corruption, or prejudice. And though Serling always warned us we were "about to enter another dimension" we knew the location was never far from our own backyard. What's your favorite progressive episode? -
interesting how this movie was wildly successful with such a liberal story line. But that's what movies were always good at -- conveying morality lessons disguised as entertainment apparently, in this case, millions of conservatives were entertained even if they didn't realize that it represented: The U.S. Army led by John Wayne getting its ass kicked by the Indians for trying to take over their land. Greedy Corporate America (e.g. Exxon Mobile and Logging Industry) getting their ass kicked by tree-huggers and animals who fought back against their would be human exploiters. the hero of the film is a U.S. soldier who, with the help of a hippie (new age, spiritual, nature child) alien chic and some animals turns on the U.S. troops launching a bloody counter assault on the General who is doing the bidding of the corporate project manager who wants the land's buried resources (like oil on earth). and yes, the General uses the words "shock and awe" and, of course -- "terrorists" i guess movies like this work even for right-wing conservatives because what is most important to them is that the team they identify with in the moment wins, regardless of the ideology baked in. what a concept. Develop characters they can identify with and you can even convince them that their team is the native indians, hippies, green people, aliens, animals, trees, nature, and the planet!

To start off this collection, i'd just like to give credit where credit is due. To announce, shall we say, a Lifetime Achievement Award to "Hollywood Liberals." After half a decade of being bashed for their "elite-ness," they and their colleagues all over the world deserve some love. Liberal writer's, actors, and directors have had key roles in moving society in the right direction. They've taken issues that were once black and white and converted them to living color--touching our hearts and minds, and bettered our lives in ways politician's should have, but didn't. 🏆

i grew up in a neighborhood in a Queens, NY where everywhere i looked there was a smart-ass. Including, regrettably, in the mirror. But it was, otherwise, a diverse community. And my world was being shaped by a very active 1970s counter-culture movement and a particularly bold and profound era of music and cinema. what this virtual world turns into, depends on the sum of ideas and ideals of all its members. Speaking for myself, I'd like this to be a space where: opinions are commercial free and don't require corporate, Party, or candidate approval. cultural, religious, and sexual diversity is embraced, not merely "tolerated." the earth and all it's resources and life forms are nurtured rather than merely exploited. the greed of a few doesn't outweigh the needs of the many, and private profits don't dictate public policy. worshipers adhere to the best examples of spiritual founders rather than the agendas of religious institutions. patriotism is a measure of how much the people of a country are willing to sacrifice for each other. i've written and recorded music most of life. I do like to express myself—to write, obviously. So this forum also serves as a tool for me to connect with other creative, expressive people. It can serve personal, political and professional purposes for you as well. my birth name is salvator and my middle initial is v. The "V" is not "For Vendetta," as in the activist film. I believe in the method of protest practiced by Gandhi and MLK. Along with Jesus and Buddha, they make up only 4 widely recognized "saviors" in a history of 100 billion humans. Since the 5th slot is open, and salvator v means "savior 5," i've obviously got a lot of work to do. Btw, i mostly write in lowercase because it makes me feel like i'm bucking conformity. i'll also be sharing my rock & roll fantasy, which stands for me transitioning from my father, Vito (v1), to son (v2), to spirit (v3—my true self) create your own inspirational identity and imagine a world the new you would want to live in. Q: Is the board game anti-business? A: No. It is just anti corporate rule. It plays out the philosophy that: The priority should be big business serving the interests of society rather than the opposite. People, not corporations should have majority control of government. Q: Does the game imply that corporations are evil? A: No. But it does suggest that it is immoral for corporations to prioritize their profits over the best interests of society. It suggests that good people leave their ethics at the door when they walk into the corporate board room, and driven by greed and pressures to raise their stock prices, they do evil deeds.
