brave new world?
The motivation for this site was an epidemic of disinformation that turned into a crisis of misinformation during and after election 2024 — including: a daily stream of LIES served on a platform called "TRUTH Social" by a leader the Washington Post tracked with 30,573 "false or misleading claims". 24 hour cable news LIES pitched as "fair & balanced" by a network that had to pay $787 million for lying about the prior election. 31 LIARS from that network hired to fill key government positions. 14 Cabinet positions filled by billionaire campaign donors. a Supreme Court ruling called "Citizens United" that effectively allows corporations to fund LIES that benefit corporations and divide citizen's. the Press bullied into NOT asking tough questions or fact-checking. A politician's lie is called "misleading." Illegalities are framed as "raising eyebrows." In short, the election was a fabri-sham-mockery! Too many Americans voted against their own best interests -- because their emotions were manipulated by lies! For me, the journey to newBluePlanet started soon after the Election 2000 debacle, with my launch of LiberalHearts -- the world's first political dating site. I retired it--and myself--in 2024--until I realized that, more than ever, progressive thinkers and liberal hearts need a space to connect and be heard through all the noise. A think-tank for putting together ideas to share on other social networks--rather than replace our participation there. Our voices are needed wherever people gather -- to offset all the hot air being pumped into their radio, cable and internet bubbles. I'd like to think that, together, we can burst some of those bubbles. But not only do I need your help. I need you to lead. My time will be divided on other projects that share the same goal but will use the mediums of music and film as tools. The plan is to develop this site as a co-op non-profit organization so the mission may outlive me. Translation: The stakes are high. Speak up. Speak out. Until you're blue in the face!

Imagine
i have to give the original a 10. I almost deducted a point because of Yoko. A review of anything post Beatle's Lennon wouldn't be complete without working her in for some blame. some cover versions of IMAGINE, leave out the "and no religion too" line. I'd deduct a full 5 points for that.

Imagine
Once upon a time, peace signs and protest songs moved culture's compass. Liking the French and respecting the U.N. was "in." Jesus was still a liberal. Then the "we" generation bought stock in the company, the "me" generation was born, and there was cable TV in every room to amplify the influences of the latest pop culture and commercial profits on political ideology. The results are in. Values changed. The music changed. I'm not sure which came first. But looking back, it seemed like, after the Vietnam War ended, the Left left the battlefield. It felt like... The Fall of Western Left-ern CivilizationIn 1971 John Lennon inspired us to "Imagine" a world undivided by countries or religions and Coca-Cola pledged to "teach the world to sing in perfect harmony". The 80's began with the question "War, What Is It Good For?" Edwin Starr answered "absolutely nuthin", dared to "say it again" and people danced. Then, Madonna proclaimed, "we are living in a material world and i am a Material Girl" and we moved to that beat. Before the decade was over Elvis Costello left us wondering, "What's So Funny About Peace Love and Understanding?" By the time the 90's kicked in it was becoming clear that, indeed, "Girls Just Want To Have Fun". Sadly, in 2004 when Linda Ronstadt was tossed out of her hotel for singing a "Desperado" tribute to Michael Moore we faced the hard reality that, "freedom, well freedom, that's just some people talking."

The Bible
sure, the first half is full of stories passed on by word-of-mouth for generations, including commandments set in stone -- and endorses throwing stones, and was heavily edited over centuries to suit societal norms of the day, and is still used to justify an assortment of discriminations -- and accusations of abominations, BUT... the star of the 2nd half is the most liberal historical character that ever walked on earth or water. it is the bio of a man who clearly was "his brother's keeper" and "did unto others as he would have them do unto him." humble, selfless, giving, forgiving, self-sacrificing, foot washing, peace loving, materialistic shunning, cheek turning, greed rejecting, compassionate, charitable, and universal health care supporting the man was all about free handouts, especially to the poor. Today he'd be called a woke, hippie, snowflake --the Democrat's dream candidate -- a gift from God to the Green Party. And he'd be crucified as a commie by the religious right. [The old testament was written by various writers 1500 - 1000 BC. About 45 to 50 years after Christ, the new testament was written by people under the names of the Apostles]

Election Reform: The Prime Directive
Americans will look back one bright blue day and say, "I can't believe we used to let money control our elections and politicians!" As is, the corruption continues because: the politicians in office won the money game and won't bite the hand that feeds them. mainstream media won't call it out. They sell ad airtime to big spenders--us, trying to compete with big biz money. too many of us accept the misconception that the interests of big biz and us are compatible. Because we have a shot to move from the have-not column to the have-more-than-I'd-ever-need column, it's all good. Even those knowing, willing, and able to fight for what society really needs, too often take their eye off the prize -- to recognize, what in mathematical terms, is called -- THE ORDER OF OPERATIONS: The horse that is needed to carry all the other needs in the cart is ELECTION REFORM -- public financing, increased voting opportunities, secure verifiable voting, etc.. It doesn't matter which candidates or what legislation the public piles into the cart because there is nothing to carry it over the money barriers. Big Business money power fuels elections and re-elections. It buys the politicians and legislation they want. We're left holding the empty bag. The result is the economy we have today. Big Biz profits and the deficit are at an all-time high, real wages are at an all-time low, and public services are being cut. Not fixing the election system and trying to get what you want out of government is like PUTTING THE CART BEFORE THE HORSE!
