the flotilla emerges from the black hole and it is encouraging to detect that the solar system appears similar to the one they used to call home. The first planet the scout ship touches down on is too hot. The second planet they test is too cold. The third planet is just right. And, of course, it meets the criteria of being a blue sky, blue ocean planet. Pristine, almost. Clearly thriving.

On earth we can justify it by saying animals are already dead and it would be a waste of life to let it go to waste.
