the oil industry has an army

the latest tool of the oil industry -- the "fake" war on drugs

the old Republican Party endorsed Nancy Reagan's, "Just Say No" to drugs campaign. Today, they're going with "just blow up suspected drug smuggles!" And Venezuelan sea vessels are a curious target.

there is nothing more fundamental to America's founding principles than the right to a fair trial -- rather than a felon on a golden toilet seat in an ivory tower acting as judge, jury, and executioner of foreigners in international waters.

even if convicted of drug smuggling the punishment in America is not death by bomb

if this President really cared about enforcing drug laws he wouldn't redirect thousands of law personnel from drug trafficking to bullying immigrant workers paying taxes.

the personal priority of every extreme policy of this President is related to staying in power and out of potential jail. In this case, the get out of jail free card relies on the assumption he can rally the public around a "war-time President" or even void the entire election during war (like Ukraine did). He risked war by bombing Iran. Iran, wisely, didn't bite. Venezuela is a far more convenient target.

the professional priority of this administration, however, is nothing new. It's the same old story -- steeped in oil. The powers that be, need a regime in Venezuela that is friendly to his associates in the industry.

Our government manages the profits of the oil industry. In return the oil industry funds the candidates who will effectively serve on their board.

Apparently the fact that the largest air craft carrier was just sent in should have us all truly concerned. Again, something THE LYIN' KING and Hegeseth decided on their own.

congratulations to Hegseth for topping the list of the new administration staff to most likely to go to jail (if you still believe justice can be served)

the murder of over 100 in international waters was already an illegality
now, with the orders and execution of survivors, the crime is irrefutable
even between war combatants it is illegal to execute unarmed enemy survivors
-- and certainly not suspected drug smugglers outside our country

somebody has been watching too much Breaking Bad

the friggin guy was just a bad news model a few months ago
now he's telling career generals they're fat and giving orders to "kill everyone."

Call me cynical, but after seeing the whole Iraq War debacle, based on a lie about them making or having a nuclear weapon, I see the common denominator between the two countries, oil, which both administrations wanted to gain control of and profit from. So yes, besides this, I also agree that THE LYIN' KING is doing his anti Venezuala campaign to be seen as a wartime prez, rally his base and maybe others around him, and stay out of prison. But for the people around him, who are also evil grifters, the motivation is obviously regime change in Venezuala and getting control of their oil.. That country is also no military threat whatsover, and no match for the US, so also a helpless target.. As for THE LYIN' KING being able to stop the next elections with a war against Venezuala, that is one thing that I think even our SC would not support, and our people would also not stand for it, so it would be civil war for sure if that happens, no elections, for whatever reason he uses..

The title of this post is also ironic, considering that for some time now, there's been a popular alternative rock band, called The War On Drugs.....

i appropriately changed the title to "the FAKE war on drugs"

Abby Martin discusses her new film, Earth’s Greatest Enemy, which exposes how the U.S. military — “the army of fossil fuel companies” — drives global climate destruction. The documentary links imperialism, war, and environmental collapse, showing how crises from Iraq to Gaza and Sudan are interconnected by U.S. global power.

Funny how we never see any pols connecting the dots like this, not even Bernie Sanders, much less the corporate media.. As Gen. Smedley Butler said long ago, " War is a racket "

most politicians won't bite the hand that feeds them. Bernie talks about it without singling out the industry. I think to the general public it comes across as a conspiracy theory. It IS a conspiracy. To the conspirators, it's BUSINESS. The horrors of war are the cost of doing business, like lung cancer was to the tobacco industry.

You nailed it, man. To the pols and business folks, it's just that, simply business, as the mobsters used to say, nothing personal, and nothing is more important , valuable or sacred , to them, than simple business. And with the help of the corporate media, the public does, most of them, see it as a conspiracy theory, instead of the honest reality of how things work.

since today's mainstream American media needs it spelled out before they give it the focus it needs -- here it is...

according to the U.S. Department of Defense Law of War Manual: “...orders to fire upon the shipwrecked would be clearly illegal,” the manual reads.

but since this President's unwritten manual is to throw anyone else under the bus -- the commanding Admiral is being blamed

perfect irony for the asswipes (including Stephen A Smith) who were busy whining about the Dem Senators who spoke out against illegal orders a few days ago!

so. Has the media mentioned what the punishment is for the war crime of murder? or do we have to look that up in the manual ourselves?

Let me try a guess. Because he was white and not easy to demoninze or paint as a foreign terrorist, even tho he was a drug distributor, same as the Venezualan boats are supposed to be?

It took 6 months to finally "investigate" and report on Signalgate. How long for war crimes?

My prediction is, never.. We Americans never prosecute or punish our military for war crimes,, not since the Vietnam War, and even then, Nixon pardoned the one who did get prosecuted and convicted, William Calley...

the Admiral will say in the hearing tomorrow, that the survivors were blown apart 2,000 miles away because they were "trying to complete the mission" to, allegedly, deliver illegal drugs somewhere.

it won't be televised -- which spares us from watching Senators, including many Democrats, asking questions predicated on the false "narco terrorist" premise to begin with. Neither president nor secretary of war nor admiral is judge, jury, and executioner

i'm thinking
GUILTY!
impeachment
court martial
jail

but then, who am i to say?
