Do you trust in our voting system?
With all the gerrymandering, 2024 election results under scrutiny, and Gavin Newson telling us Republicans are rigging the midterm elections, how confident do feel our elections will be fair and accurate going forward. Gavin Newson has been catching some heat from some democrats who feel there is already a clear lack of trust in our voting system right now, and it's one of the most serious issues facing our democracy. I feel Gavin Newson is doing the right thing. While prop 50 is gaining some controversy, in Gavin's words " we have to fight fire with fire". While the Lyin King is destroying our country, we have to make sure we do everything possible to save our democracy. We are out of time and have to win the midterms. We need to applaud the efforts of Gavin Newson going full out on the president and his administration.

The Lyin' King Thread
You can fix stupid with education but this administration is doing everything in its power to destroy our education system. They want children that are uneducated, and uninformed. This way they can mold their minds to believe anything they want them to. Adding religion into a classroom setting will inevitably make things much worse. Children need to be taught from a very young age how to treat people, how to have and show compassion and have the courage to speak up when they see something wrong. Home life is going to be more important than ever before. Growing up is not going to be easy for this generation of kids and young adults. Actually, it’s not going to be easy on any of us.

Who should get paid during a shutdown?
Out of wack is an understatement. Americans are not only starving for change, they are literally starving. I am shocked at the numbers of people needing food assistance. It is a pathetic situation when people have to work so hard and still can't afford decent housing, food and health insurance. Something has to seriously change and soon. This whole corrupt administration has to go. We need serious reform. Pick the best countries economy and rate of peoples quality of life and copy that model since we can't seem to come up with our own.

Who should get paid during a shutdown?
Rick Scott is pushing legislation to abolish paychecks for Congress during a shutdown. It raises the question of who should and who shouldn't get paid?

alternate lifestyles
Good article and very true for many people. The majority of people’s lives are in a constant state of movement, noise, and conversation. Work, family, household, pets, extended family, close friends and occasional friends are all a an energy drain, mentally and physically. I always thought once I retire I will have so much more time and energy to give to all the people in my life. To my surprise, I felt exactly opposite. This is my time! I need the people I am very close to in my life but I have become extremely selective on who those are. I consider myself an empath. I strongly internalize the feelings of those I care for, when they hurt so do I. I do enjoy going out but it’s much less often than it used to be. I love music and movies so I prefer my outings are concerts and movies. Usually after going out I need extra time to recover. Is it getting older and losing energy ? To a degree yes, but I feel as we get older being able to spend time alone is a necessity. I enjoy it now and it is my usual preference. Go out or stay home. 75% of the time I’ll stay home.

The Lyin' King Thread
I can’t imagine much dancing going on, nor do I want to, ick. He has managed to alienate all our allies and even his dictator besties are turning their backs and doing exactly what they intended to do all along. The ballroom symbol should be 🖕. It’s a 230 million dollar FU to the American people. While he is doing whatever he damn well pleases, the government remains shut down and people are truly struggling. The most insane part is they still defend him. Maybe when they are starving, living in a cardboard box on the street reality will kick in.

POLL: Most Effective Protest?
In my opinion I think all except #2 are effective. At this point we should all be doing whatever we can. If you can’t do all, then do what you can. Just do something!

the new war on drugs
Apparently the fact that the largest air craft carrier was just sent in should have us all truly concerned. Again, something THE LYIN' KING and Hegeseth decided on their own.

The Great Gatsby
In the pursuit of happiness does wealth fulfill that desire? Gatsby, a self-made millionaire whose obsessive love for a woman from a higher social class leads to his downfall. Gatsby embodies the corruption of this dream, believing that money can buy him love and happiness, only to find that it leads to a spiritual void.

The Lyin' King Thread
Hi Susan. The protest was very uplifting. I have 2 daughters also and it was so good to be able to share the experience with them. You are correct, nothing THE LYIN’ KING does should shock me or any of us at this point. It’s hard to accept that so much has changed in such a short time. The families and friendships THE LYIN' KING has destroyed is one of the hardest things to accept. I can’t imagine 3 more years of this but I have to believe good will triumph over evil and we will get through this. Hopefully we come out stronger. At least we have taught our children you have to fight for what you believe in and everyday be grateful for the freedoms we have.

The Lyin' King Thread
Who could possibly feel that the AI video of The President flying a jet dressed as a King flying over a protest dumping poop is an appropriate response to a peaceful protest of 7 million people? Imagine if Obama or Biden did something like this. The Republicans freaked out when Obama wore a beige suit. Do I agree with Trumps freedom to be able to post such a disgusting and churlish piece of 💩? Yep I sure do. Should this man-baby be our president? Absolutely not. The Speaker of the house, Mike Johnson needs to go too. Such a religious man with no morals whatsoever. He is the ventriloquist dummy, sitting on Trumps lap. All Americans should be appalled.

Fact-Checking: A New Fact of Life
What is really going on? The past few days there have been many posts about the Epstein files in which you’re shown a list of people in the files. No names. ex A rock star. A high figure politician. Royalty (ok I think we know this one). I don’t want to play guess the pedophiles. Second, A few theories about Charlie Kirk’s death and about his wife and their not so great relationship. Fact check everything. If we have enough time to read all this stuff, we have enough time to fact check it Snipes.com, AP fact check, Reutears fact check, and politiFact are all reliable sources.

No King's Day: Get Froggy!
Thank you to Portland for showing us how to protest in the very best way. Today 7 million people across the country peacefully protested. When we all should feel defeated and exhausted, today was a renewal of spirit reinforcing that the power of the people is stronger than the people in power.

Hollywood Liberals
Writers and directors such as Michael Moore and Ken Burns have taught us so much about history, war, and politics. The grown up version of events we never learned in history class.
