boycott as a daily voting system

"the Revolution Will Not Be Televised" -- It Will Be Scanned

there used to be a site called buycott.com, but it does not exist anymore.
It had a phone app you could use to scan a product before buying it. It would check a database to determine the profiting corporation behind the product and let you know the companies political profile.

Consider the potential of educated consumers instantly pulling up that info. It makes the concept of "voting with your wallet" a practical reality. In today's world of ever increasing corporate power and decreasing democracy, consumer's purchasing power is our greatest strength and source of influence.

there used to be an Avoid Plugin that would
Block Products Made By Child Labor
it should absolutely be expanded to other products and services but it also does not exist anymore.

imagine how many products would be blocked and how powerful the effect would be if significant numbers of people used the tool? Even better, imagine if one of the browser developers had the software installed as a standard plug-in to their browser! Or better yet, an open source, corporate independent browser that displays consumer advocate warnings when you visit sites whose companies have had violations, fines, or judgements against them!

I'm talking about a browser with the mindset of of the old Ralph Nader built into it!

if we can successfully do something insignificant, like get a late-night talk show back on the air, imagine what we can do if we put our minds to it. and, more importantly, our awesome, undeniable, irresistible, consumer power?
