"the Revolution Will Not Be Televised" -- It Will Be Scanned

http://www.buycott.com/
is an app that lets you scan a product with your phone before buying it. It checks a database to determine the profiting corporation behind the product and lets you know that companies political profile.

Consider the potential of educated consumers instantly pulling up that info before they buy anything in a store or online. It makes the concept of "voting with your wallet" a practical reality. In today's world of ever increasing corporate power and decreasing democracy, consumer's purchasing power is our greatest strength and source of influence.

Block Products Made By Child Labor With The Avoid Plug-In
this is a fantastic tool that should absolutely be expanded to other products and services:

http://www.huffingto..._n_1756461.html

...internet plug-in called aVOID blocks out items produced by brands known to employ child laborers. The software uses data gathered from users and the advocacy group

...hit 1 million products for consumers to avoid in its first week.

...scours brands sold on Asos, Yoox, Amazon, Target, Macys, Zalando, Google Shopping,

...an estimated 215 million children under the age of 15 are forced to work in sweatshops, deprived of education and are often subjected to physical and emotional abuse,

imagine how many products would be blocked and how powerful the effect would be if significant numbers of people used the tool? Even better, imagine if one of the browser developers had the software installed as a standard plug-in to their browser! Or better yet, an open source, corporate independent browser that displays consumer advocate warnings when you visit sites whose companies have had violations, fines, or judgements against them!

I'm talking about a browser with the mindset of of the old Ralph Nader built into it!
