I'm sure we'd all rather be talking about new ideas than dealing with the ravings of a grown man who literally and figuratively needs his diaper changed every day. But if we step around it like the profit-prioritized media we'll be in it up to our necks before long. Until we can move on, let's contain his bullying and dictatorial stink in this thread so we can toss it like a doggy-bag when that bright newBlue day arrives. However, since I do believe we need a break from his name and brand, any typing of his name on this forum will be converted to "The Lyin' King"

Topics related to this administration, its policies, and all-the-king's-men and women should be directed to their own threads.

People tend to believe that every unprecedented move by the would-be Prez-a-King is intended to distract from his more insidious crimes. But despite the lack of journalistic scrutiny, the public is beginning to catch on to the bigger picture.

The thing this Prez cares about first and foremost is not being exposed to prosecution and potential prison time. To that end, he must stay in office, past the midterms, and beyond...

The military, the press, the courts and Congress are being groomed to protect him from, more than crimes past -- crimes to come -- including, not surrendering the White House when his gig is up.

"Proper education" is a loaded, subjective, and contentious perspective.

indeed, what is "proper" is in the eyes of the beholder. What's a proper wage, proper healthcare, proper sexuality, etc..

our father's Republican Party complained that the Beatles didn't have a proper haircut. Today the Party believes it's proper for the President to poop on half of the people.

but we can, and must try to define what is and isn't proper for American government, business, and citizens. At the very least, we can do a better job of defining it than the current arbiters -- right-wing media and corporate media in general.

yes, Chris you're on the mark on all of it. It will all have to be dealt with but the first critical step is regaining the House and/or Senate in one year.

I think we can walk and chew gum at the same time. Short term yes, we can volunteer and assist in campaigns and spread the word via social media or contribute monetarily. The conundrum is that all of this is being done within a nearly 240 year-old framework that remains largely unchanged with two senators per state, regardless of population, the Electoral College, and a House where there is only only one representative for every 750,000+ of population which puts each one further out of touch with individual constituents. The First Congress had one rep for each 60,000 in population. Why not increase the number of representatives to one for each 100,000 population which would hugely inflate the number of members to 3500 if we stay intact as one country? Having a truly local and nearby rep should, in theory, make each one more accountable to your voice.

Having been around a bit and with my first small steps of active involvement while in high school with the 1972 McGovern campaign, I can say that subsequently we've always put hope for change in the future within the current structure. To some extent, we made some bits of progress with Carter, Obama, and Biden, but often wind up with partially effective half-measures. And, let's not forget that Republican Gerald Ford was pro-ERA and pro-choice on abortion. Even Nixon supported the ERA. In the early to mid-70s you had a cadre of moderate to liberal Republicans (mostly from the Northeast) which no longer exists. With population shifts changing ideologies regionally, that's why I suggest that we need to put our heads together to create a new entity commensurate to the European model economically and socially.

indeed, Chris, there are many, many things we can and should do. And the European models are a good start. My plan is to explore all the options via the 3001: Space Colonoscopy thread where we will simulate building a new society from scratch.

Yes, you really are being too critical. For a demented, decrepit, narcissistic and pathetic excuse of a man, look at all he has accomplished! His biggest accomplishment and our biggest failure is he is still a free man.

4 hours ago, Lindy said:

. . . His biggest accomplishment and our biggest failure is he is still a free man.

An arguable bigger accomplishment by DJT and bigger failure by liberals and progressives: The inordinate amount of time and mental and emotional energy we devote to him (to use a popular, tiresome but true expression: DJT is "living rent-free in our heads").

Very true. It’s impossible to not be affected. It’s been 10 years of hearing about him even when he wasn’t President. It’s exhausting. I do feel the tide is turning and I can’t wait for the day we all get to see him go down and the circus of an administration go down with him.

I don’t know why I am consistently shocked every time I hear the Piggy Prez be so incredibly disrespectful and condescending to reporters. He is especially awful to the women. He’s behavior yesterday to reporter Mary Bruce made me sick. She was so brave to ask the Saudi Prince about Jamal Kashoggi. THE LYIN' KING unleashed his fury on her. Called insubordinate, disrespectful to his guest, a terrible reporter from a terrible Station and so on. I realize he is becoming completely unhinged but it’s truly hard for me to understand how any of his female voters could ever have considered him anything but a misogynistic narcissist, who absolutely has no respect for women whatsoever. Sorry for the rant. I’m pissed.
