Welcome to all the newbl newbies! 💫

Hard to believe winter is almost here. I’m guessing we won’t be seeing too many protests unless you’re lucky enough to live in a warm-weather state.

What we can do is keep writing letters to our representatives.

The 50501 Movement is organizing a spending boycott from November 28 – December 5.

Yes, it’s a tough one. This is during Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

With the government shutdown and SNAP delays, this makes a hard time even harder.

We all love a good sale, especially if you have kids. Try shopping before or after those dates. Support local businesses during the boycott week instead. 🛍️

It might even make the holidays less stressful, less expensive, and more about time with family and friends. ❤️

The past ten months have shown us just how much we’ve taken for granted. It’s time to remind big business that we are in control — not the other way around.

If you can, donate toys or food to help those struggling this season.

Let’s stand together, follow the boycott, and keep pushing forward.

🌟 Here’s to a new year filled with hope, and to giving the midterms our full effort.

May we all find new meaning in this holiday season. ❤️

I would love that

Calendared. Shop local!

Thank you, Lindy!

In capitalist America, financial boycotting by citizens domestic and abroad is, IMO, one of the more effective means of protest. Hit the fat cats where it hurts them the most: their wallets!

Here is the link to the 50501 Movement.

I support dis-empowering corporations, but I don't get how a boycott lasting just a few days will work. The corporations know that we will still be buying stuff, just on a different day, so they lose no money. There needs to be a way to let the corps KNOW that we are making PERMANENT changes to our buying habits. It would be better if we could do a boycott for far longer, like a month, but I know that is not possible for most people. I don't really know the answer, though...

that's a good point, Lee. But just as corps know how to train us, they know we can be untrained. If we break a habit for a week, they know we might be encouraged to break a habit more. Or we may find an alternative to their company. So, yes it's about permanent changes. But that's how permanent changes start. And they don't want us thinking for a whole week about what greedy bastards they are after working so hard to cultivate their image -- including paying millions to have some celebrity associate their face 😃 with their product or service!
