The Fall of LEFT-ern CivilizationOnce upon a time, raging against the corporate machine, flashing the peace sign, liking the French, and respecting the UN was "in". Then the "we" generation bought stock in the company, the "me" generation was born, and there was cable and a TV in every room to amplify the influences of pop culture and commercial profits on political ideology. The results are in. Values changed. The music changed. I don't know which came first. In 1971 John Lennon inspired us to "Imagine" a world undivided by countries or religions and Coca-Cola pledged to "teach the world to sing in perfect harmony". The 80's began with the question "War, What Is It Good For?" Edwin Starr answered "absolutely nothin", dared to "say it again" and people danced. Before the decade was over we were left wondering, "What's So Funny About Peace Love and Understanding?" By the time the 90's kicked in it was becoming clear that "Girls Just Want To Have Fun". Sadly, in 2004 when Linda Ronstadt was tossed out of her hotel for singing a "Desperado" tribute to Michael Moore we faced the hard reality that, "freedom, well freedom, that's just some people talking."

sure, the first half of the book is a lot of fairy tales, including fire and brimstone passed on by word of mouth for generations before it's commandments were set in stone -- and it endorses throwing stones, was heavily edited over the years to suit societal norms of the day and is still used today to justify an assortment of discrimination -- and accusations of abominations, BUT... the star of the 2nd half is the most liberal historical character that ever walked on earth or water. it is the bio of a man who clearly was "his brother's keeper" and "did unto others as he would have them do unto him." humble, selfless, giving, forgiving, self-sacrificing, foot washing, peace loving, materialistic shunning, cheek turning, greed rejecting, compassionate, charitable, and universal health care supporting the man was all about free handouts, especially to the poor. Today he'd be called a woke, hippie, snowflake --the Democrat's dream candidate, a gift from God to the Green Party, and he'd be crucified as a commie by the religious right. i rate the Bible 1 for the Regressive Testament and 10 for the Progressive Testament [Written by various writers 1500 - 1000 Before Christ and some other people under the names of the Apostles about 45 to 50 years After Death.]

  4. One day Americans will look back and say, "I can't believe we used to let money power control our elections and politicians!" The question is, will it be in your lifetime? As is, it is allowed to go on because: not enough people are tuned in. too many have surrendered their power. too many are under the misconception that the interests of money power and their own are compatible. too many believe that as long as they have a shot to move from the have-not column to the have-more-than-I'd-ever-need column, it's all good. Even those knowing, willing, and able to fight for what society needs, too often take their eye off the prize -- to recognize, what in mathematical terms, is called -- THE ORDER OF OPERATIONS: The horse that is needed to carry all the other needs in the cart is ELECTION REFORM -- public financing, increased voting opportunities, secure verifiable voting, etc.. It doesn't matter which candidates or what legislation the public piles into the cart because there is nothing to carry it over the money barriers. Big Business money power fuels elections and re-elections. It buys the politicians and legislation they want. We're left holding the empty bag. The result is the economy we have today. Big Biz profits and the deficit are at an all-time high, real wages are at an all-time low, and public services are being cut. Not fixing the election system and trying to get what you want out of government is like PUTTING THE CART BEFORE THE HORSE!
