because politicians prime directive is being elected and re-elected. In a 2-Party system, Democrats believe they only need to be LESS corrupt. They lose big donor money if they challenge the powers that be.
because mainstream media are private profiteers competing for audience share -- afraid too many will tune out.
because, instead of undermining democracy behind the scenes, the rich & powerful now do it in plain sight.
